The little black dress, or LBD as it is oftentimes referred to, is a staple item in every woman’s wardrobe. You will find an LBD in the majority of women’s closets, and for good reason. A little black dress can take you lots of places; it can be casual, can be perfect for a cocktail event or party, and it can also work for the office. The trick is knowing how to accessorize it well.

Let’s face it, every woman loves a little black dress because it also helps disguise any bumps, and is the perfect dress for those days when you’re feeling bloated.

To truly make the most of your little black dress, you have to know how to accessorize it. You can really create a completely different out every time you wear your little black dress, if you know how to accessorize it properly. So below are 5 ways how you can accessorize your little black dress to create a different outfit every time you wear it.

1. Add a Belt

This is one of the easiest things you can do to spice up your little black dress, and it can also be the most effective a belt can really give a whole new look to your dress. You can wear a thin belt, in a striking color or even animal print. Though if you want to be bold wear a wide belt in a color such as red, or even in an animal print. Now that will really create a different look, and it will also flatter your figure as it will tuck in your waist, helping to create a more define look.

2. Wear a Scarf

This is a trick I like to use when I need to add a little bit of chic flair to my little black dress, and this works very well for a sophisticated office look. Grab your favorite scarf, it can be a silk scarf or even a chiffon scarf, and wrap it around your neck. You can wrap it slightly tightly if you have a define neck, though if you’re like me and your neck isn’t really that long, I suggest you keep it loose. You can leave the loose end of the ‘tie’ to one side. Opt for a scarf with a bold color or print for a more striking look.

3. Put On Bold Shoes

Now since I love shoes (my husband likes to call me a ‘shoe-aholic’) this is my very favorite way to accessorize a little black dress. Find a pair of high heeled bold color shoes, think of colors like blue, pink, red, green or orange. Actually, simply pick your favorite color! Or if you are really adventurous, pick a pair of animal print shoes. Now although I mentioned high-heeled shoes, if you are not comfortable with wearing them, you can opt for something more manageable like a kitten heel, that does the trick too. The important thing is to add that touch of bold color or print to your LBD.

4. Choose a Striking Handbag

Now this idea is perfect for someone who doesn’t like wearing bold shoes, or prefers to wear simple flats with their little black dress. You can still add a touch of color, or even animal print, to your look just by wearing a striking handbag. Choose a small or larger style handbag depending on the event, though definitely choose one in a bold color.

5. Wear a Chunky Necklace

If you prefer wearing jewelry, then this will come naturally to you. Wear a big chunky necklace with your little black dress. This will make you stand out from the crowd, and will help create a sophisticated look. Again, ideally go for something in a bold color, though something in silver or gold tone will also work wonderfully.

So there you go, 5 ways how you can easily accessorize your little black dress to create a stylish look. But remember, your little black dress is truly like a blank canvas. Be creative with how you wear your favorite LBD and do not be afraid to try out different things.
