Laura Catterall on Cosmopolitan, Kaela Humphries Signed Up (& More!)
This week has so far been a pretty active one in the plus size industry, with various events and happenings going on. Here’s my take on some of the latest news, and updates from our favorite stores.
Laura Catterall Graces The Cover of Cosmopolitan
I were extremely happy to see gorgeous Laura Catterall, a plus size model, grace the cover of the French edition of Cosmopolitan (April, 2012 edition). Is it just me, or do I notice more coverage of plus size women and models in general in European magazines when compared to the US? This is the trend I’m noticing, which is suprising to me since the ‘plus size fashion’ market is much wider in the US… in the terms of clothing availability. As a plus size woman living in Europe, but having visited and shopped around various cities in the US, it’s obivous to me that curvy women Stateside have much more options, and seem to be much more represented in retail, but not in magazines. Hopefully this will continue to change in 2012.
Kaela Humphries Signs Up With Ford Models
The divine Kaela Humphries, sister of Kris Humphries (NBA player and ex-husband of Kim Kardashians), has just been signed with Ford Models’s plus size division. This is great news and I sure hope this propels Kaela to even greater heights. We wish you all the luck in the world Kaela, and keep representing the real curvy girls!
A Plus Size Line For Net-A-Porter?
Various websites have today revealed the possibility of a future plus size line for Net-A-Porter. This line will be created by top designer Mary Katrantzou who earlier this year picked up an Elle Style Award. Although Katrantzou is not known for collaborating with plus size figure in the past, she has recently declared she wished her lines go up to bigger sizes, which is what has led up to talks for a future plus size line in collaboration with Net-A-Porter.com. I’ll definitely keep tabs on this progress of this line, and will get you the latest scoop as news is released.
Newest Arrivals to Note
If you like to purchase pieces that ooze versatility, you’ll be glad to know that the popular Anastasia Dresses by Sealed With A Kiss Designs are now back in stock. These are convertible dresses, which are well known, and well loved, for their ability to be worn in a variety of different ways. The particular dresses from Sealed With a Kiss Designs are available in a short or long verion, up to a size 6X and are finall now back in stock!
Another customer favorite has been refined and reintroduced, this time at IGIGI. Anyone remember the bolg Rainforest Paradise Maxi Dress from IGIGI? I recall when this dress was initially released… it quickly sold out, it was that well received! So curvy ladies looking for an extra special maxi dress, this is definitely worth a look. It’s received a lot of positive reviews from past customers, which of course you can go through on the IGIGI website. This dress is available up to size 30/32.
That’s it from the scoop today! Check back tomorrow for more style tips and plus size scoops.
