Just As Beautiful Mag: New Issue Out Now!
It has been a few month now since I discovered Just As Beautiful magazine, an online free magazine hailing from the UK dedicated to plus size women. This truly is a magazine with a difference, and one of the reasons why I like it is because it is real. It features stories written by and created for big beautiful women, and topic covered range from fashion, health, beautiful and entertainment issues.
This weekend the May issue of Just As Beautiful magazine was sent out to subscribers, and it is chock full of interesting stuff including:
- A great piece on how Trinny and Susannah (two famous UK stylists) teach a plus size couple what to wear, and what to stay away from!
- A story on how Lisa Marie and Cher Rue, founders of Club Bounce, met and started off on a great journey of curvy success.
- A piece on Britain’s largest teenager, a 34 stone 19 year old, who recounts some tough times she passed through, during what was supposed to be the best time of her life.
- A great real life story of how diet pills nearly turned a woman’s life into a horror story!

Old Navy Without the Curves… Removes Plus Size Line
There have been several online new sites in the last couple of days reporting on the fact that Old Navy will be removing their plus size clothing line from their stores. It’s sad to see that such a big chain will be closing it’s doors to a whole lot of curves, and a whole lot of business!
Glen L. Johnson has some interesting ideas on the topic, about reasons why Old Navy took this step. Lack of advertising tops the list, and I’m pretty sure he’s right, that this factor played a very important role. Talking from an online marketing perspective, I am always on the lookout for new plus size stores and plus size related advertising always catches my eye. Thinking about it now, I’ve never actually seen an advert or promotion online by Old Navy which focuses solely on pushing their plus size line. So indeed that must be one big factor.
Oh well, too bad for Old Navy I guess. With the increasing plus size clothing options coming to be available for curvy women these days, I’m sure all full figured women will survive and keep on being even more stylish.

New Look for the Scoop!
Any regular readers will today notice quite a chance when visiting The Plus Size Clothing Scoop! It’s been well over a year since the very first post, and I thought it was high time to give this plus size clothing blog an update and a fresh new look!
Among the new things the new design features, you will find:
- a brand new ‘logo’ for the blog
- a three-column design as opposed to a two-column design
- cleaner and more eye-friendly colors (I hope)
Although I’ve tried to clean out the bugs as much as possible, I apologize in advances if you encounter any difficulties with these new designs, and I would also appreciate it greatly if you could let me know of the problems you encountered.

Curvy Modeling Competition Heading to Atlanta, GA
DeVoe Signature Events and Divas Unlimited Inc. have this week announced that the Full Figured & Fabulous™ Plus Model Competition is coming to Atlanta, Georgia!
Auditions for Full Figured & Fabulous in Atlanta, GA will be held on Saturday, April 28th at 4:30 PM. They are looking for plus models, sizes 14 to 24, who would make fierce runway competitors. Competition is expected to be stiff in Atlanta, so it is highly recommended that you have recent runway experience. Over $10,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded to the winners, so what have you got to lose?! If you are in the Atlanta, GA and have some runway experience, give this a go! Curvy Lakisha Jones Wearing Missphit on American Idol
I have to be honest, I do not have much time on my hands to watch a lot of TV. But every now and again I do like to curl up on the couch, with a nice cup of tea, some biscuits and watch some good TV. More often than not I end up watching some reality show, I have to admit I am a sucker for them!
Although I must say one show I haven’t been following is American Idol, however I will start following this show after getting to know about the great talent that’s being showcased. I was even more intrigued when I got to know about Lakisha Jones, a beautiful plus size woman with one hell of a voice, who is a contestant in American Idol.
I managed to catch up on the whole American Idol show, and Lakisha’s performances so far, by browsing around online and watching some clips here and there. I must say I am impressed! Lakisha has an amazing voice, carries herself with great pride and style, and totally rocks the stage when she performs. It’s great to have such a positive role model for young girls around the world participate in such a popular show.
I was very happy, and also surprised (in a very positive way), to notice that in one of her recent performances Lakisha was wearing the very stylish and sexy Diva Halter top from Missphit. This halter top comes in red and cream, vibrant colors that go very well on Lakisha, and a style which hugs her curves in the right way. She definitely looks very stylish wearing it.
It’s excellent to see Missphit plus size clothing line increasing popularity, and being worn in the most prestigious of occasions! You might recall that Missphit had recently also been featured in an article within Latina Magazine. I wonder what other great stuff is in store for Missphit.

Monif C. on BET’s Rip the Runway Tonight!
Ladies, tonight make sure you watch BET’s Rip the Runway 2007, as plus size fashions designed by Monif C. are going to be featured on the show! Monif C. is in fact going to be the only plus size designer showcased on the show.

Missphit Featured on Everybody Hates Chris
As we have been noticing recently, plus size fashion and designers are increasingly being featured in leading magazines and TV shows. Missphit has recently been featured in a popular TV series ‘Everybody Hates Chris’. In episode 3, of season 2, a Missphit plus size top is seen worn by a cute, full figured woman. Way to go Missphit!
