It’s great to see plus size women hit the spotlight and shine in the headlines. Earlier this month Lane Bryant announced that Kimberley Locke will once again appear as a national spokesmodel for the plus-size brand. Kicking off a new marketing and advertising campaign, Locke appeared at Lane Bryant’s newest Cacique(R) plus-size intimate apparel store in Reno, Nevada on Saturday, March 25th with hundreds in line to meet the pop singer!
Kimberley Locke is scheduled to make appearances at 10 new Lane Bryant and Cacique(R) stores opening across the country this year where she will be on hand to meet customers and sign promotional copies of her new single, “Supawoman,” which goes to radio in April. Late last March, we had the wonderful opportunity to talk to Monif J. Clarke, who is the designer and co-founder of Monif C. Plus Sizes. In this interview Monif speaks about her childhood, her love for fashion and most of all her love for life. Monif recounts how growing up as a big child was a challenging experience, which however helped her grow into a strong and successful woman. “You are who you are regardless of what you weigh. Nobody was brought on this earth to kick themselves in the butt and mentally torture themselves just because they are not ‘model-skinny’,” says Monif.
