Myer and Big W Launch New Clothing Ranges For Curvy Women in Australia

Myer Plus Size RangeSydney, July 11, 2011 (Global Fashion Wire) – The plus-size market grows as Myer (ASX:MYR) and Big W launch new clothing ranges for curvy women.

Two of Australia’s biggest retail giants Myer and Big W are finding the right fit for the countries curvaceous population by introducing plus-sized clothing ranges.

Prior to this launch customers have been somewhat dissatisfied with the plus-size garments on offer, complaining about their poor cuts and lack of trends. This has resulted in customers turning to online retailers that cater more readily to their needs.

Myer’s new in-house brand will be designed by an internal team replacing its former range “Big is Beautiful“. Jo Lynch spokeswoman for Myer declares “this as an opportunity and a growth area given increasing demand.” While the range is currently untitled it will fill shelves later this year.

Discount department store, Big W will launch its Avella summer clothing line this month. The range offers a wide range of affordable shirts, pants and jackets for shapely women sizes 16 and up. “This is the first time we have created a range especially for plus sizes, rather than simply sizing up clothes really suitable for smaller figures,” Benedict Brook of Big W states.

The marketing campaigns for both stores will be fronted by size 16 Australian model Robyn Lawley, who is not only beautiful but a role model for curvaceous women. These ranges come at an opportune time as Australian waistlines are growing and shapely customers demand clothes that suit both their style and finesse.

OneStopPlus Now Offers International Shipping

Jewel-Waist Plus Size Maxi DressFinally! OneStopPlus.com®, a division of Redcats USA and the world’s first and only web-mall for plus-size women and big and tall men, has just announced today that it has launched international shipping as part of a broader strategy to cultivate its rapidly expanding business.

As a result of the brand’s dedication to its customers, OneStopPlus.com® now offers shipping to Canada, Australia and more than 90 countries that are under-served in the selection of on-trend plus-size fashion. Woman Within®, AVENUE®, Jessica London®, KingSize® and Roaman’s® are the proprietary brands that are part of the international product offering by OneStopPlus.com®.

The OneStopPlus.com® team has consistently received feedback from women across the world that they would like to have access to our products as they have few options for purchasing plus-size clothing,” said Stephanie Sobel, President of the OneStopPlus Group. “So far, the international component is performing well above our expectations.

Launched in 2007, OneStopPlus.com® has created a thriving marketplace business model that features well-known proprietary brands, as well as external brands. The original concept of merging all of its plus-size proprietary brands into one location (Woman Within®, Roaman’s®, Jessica London®, Avenue® and KingSize®) and creating a plus-size fashion mall reached an exceedingly high level of success, thus leading OneStopPlus.com® to expand its portfolio by adding external online retailers such as: Torrid, Ulla Popken, Kiyonna, Lafayette 148 New York, Igigi by Yuliya Raquel, Ebags and Shoebuy.com. So far in 2011, OneStopPlus.com® has amassed more than 10 external partners to its website, sending a powerful message about its ability to provide its customer with an escalating variety of styles and fashions at a great value.

With its forward-thinking approach, OneStopPlus.com® experienced double digit sales growth in 2010 versus 2009, and with over 1 million customers, the company continues to aggressively pursue future growth opportunities. Making OneStopPlus.com®’s sales increase even more significant is the fact that The NPD Group reported an overall 1% sales growth for women’s plus-size apparel (online) in 2010 versus 2009. In addition, OneStopPlus launched in France one year ago (http://www.onestopplus.fr/home/index.aspx) and has since been successfully rolled out in 10 European countries.

OneStopPlus.com® is the #1 shopping destination for plus-size women featuring the broadest range of fashion and lifestyle products available on the market today,” said Jim Lofgren, Vice President/Brand Manager for OneStopPlus.com®. “Our customers are thrilled by our new partner brands and international shipping options, and we continue to aggressively pursue the best plus-size retailers in the industry to grow our marketplace even faster.

Fashion To Figure Supports Parkinson’s Awareness Month

During the entire month of April, Parkinson’s Awareness Month, Fashion to Figure (FTF) will support the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF) through a variety of store efforts including: selling Team Fox bracelets, providing the opportunity to make direct donations in stores, and dedicating each Saturday during the month to a fundraising event for the MJFF. This Saturday April 9th, FTF will donate 10% of sales to the MJFF. On Saturday April 23rd, FTF will donate $1 for every new Facebook “like” and on Saturday April 30th, FTF will donate $1 for every Facebook “check-in” at any FTF location. Michael J Fox Foundation For Parkinsons Research

FTF is thrilled to support Parkinson’s Awareness Month, especially as this is a cause that has really hit home to us,” said FTF Co-Founder and CEO Michael Kaplan. Kaplan went on to say “My brother Nick and I founded FTF to build on our family’s over 100 years of work at the forefront of full fashion. When our Dad, who used to run our family’s full fashion retail chain, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease 17 years ago, we were profoundly impacted. Our Grandmother also died with Parkinson’s. We are inspired by Michael J. Fox, who has been living with the disease for nearly 20 years – and by the Foundation he started, which is working urgently to fund research that will lead to new treatments and a cure. The Michael J. Fox Foundation’s aggressive scientific agenda has provided immense hope for patients like our Dad and millions of others living with Parkinson’s. We are so pleased to support such vital work.

Team Fox bracelets will be available for purchase ($2 each) at all Fashion To Figure stores. Customers will also have the opportunity to make direct donations to the MJFF. For more information on FTF’s events including fundraising results, or on joining the FTF Team for the Parkinson’s Unity Walk on April 16th, please visit http://www.fashiontofigure.com/fights_parkinson.asp or send FTF an email to: info@ftfstores.com.

Plus Size Diva Sherrie Keys to Launch Clothing Label

Beautiful, articulate, with razor-sharp intellect, Chubby Girl Records CEO Sherrie Keys is staking claim that her business formula is recession – proof.  The plus-size singer and fashionista is in early stages of launching a clothing line targeting the plus-size consumer.

Sherrie Keys - Chubby Girl Records CEO

Keys founded the label on the belief that plus-size women deserve fashion equality and that the demographic has strong growth potential in an otherwise stagnant retail market.

My fashion label was created to add sizzle and excitement to plus-size clothing.” Keys states. “I believe women of all sizes should be celebrated and that happiness does not begin or end with a certain size.

Some might think that being a plus-size diva in an image-conscious city like Los Angeles might prove challenging. The beautiful, vivacious plus-size diva disagrees. She believes that Los Angeles is the perfect city for a plus-size fashion revolution. “Los Angeles is a city for big dreamers. You can’t get any bigger than plus-size.

My fashion style reflects casual elegance. My clothes reflect confidence, style and joy. Plus-size women stand out because we have a ‘take no prisoners’ attitude and that’s the joie de vivre that will be reflected in my clothing.

The message to plus-size fashionistas should be that living a life with purpose can be achieved at any size. We don’t advocate obesity as a healthy lifestyle choice. We advocate a positive self-image as the foundation to holistic health.

Keys states that initial test marketing will be done in direct to consumer channels with a full  retail push scheduled for late 2011.
