How to Accessorize that Little Black Dress: Tune Into Tuesdays

In this video today, TrendySwag.com host Katherine Akra talks about the perfect undergarments to wear with your LBD (Little Black Dress). Nothing ruins a little black dress like bra straps or panty lines – having the right undergarments is extremely important. First of all make sure you are wearing a black bra if you plan on being photographed; a nude of colored bra will show through in pictures due to the flash.

If you are wearing a strapless gown, then make sure to choose a strapless bra that will stay in place. A backless dress may still require some type of coverage, even if you are unable to wear a bra, there are products out there you can use, which will prevent people from seeing all you’ve got! Lingerie has really evolved, and there are tons of products specifically designed for clothing that cannot be worn with a normal bra. Most lingerie stores sell small silicone pasties, which stick to your skin and provide full coverage. Some bras are even made corset style, and dip really low both in the front and the back. Other bras have clear straps or straps that can be removed, criss crossed or put into a halter.

How to Select Plus Size Special Occasion Dresses

By Stacy Montgomery of Sealed with a Kiss Designs

Selena DressToday in US, almost 65% of women wear a size larger than 12. It sometimes becomes irritating to find out that you can not find anything to wear on a special occasion when you go to shopping on those local garment stores. You want something which fits you exactly for those limited events. And even if you indeed find that special dress for your intended purpose, the real problem comes when you can’t find your size. All the present sizes seem to be smaller than what will fit you right.

A solution to this problem is online shopping of plus size dresses. You might have till now bought and sent gifts and similar stuff. But what about formal and special occasion dresses? Good news is that they can be now easily ordered as well. Plus you get the ease of selecting the designs and colors at the click of your mouse.

Before you begin your online hunt, keep in mind the following points:

    1. You should know a bit about the fabric quality and texture. Any good site should offer information about the fabric used to manufacture the special dress. These plus size special occasion dresses are generally made of synthetic fabrics these days. This is due to the fact that they are cheap and wrinkle-free. You can visit your local stores and gain some expertise regarding the fabrics.
      __
    2. Find out more about your figure and body shape. You can see the local stores to get your entire measurements done. See if the available dresses are too revealing or too exposing. They may too dowdy or sloppy in nature. Check out all the available variety locally.
      __
    3. Recount all your previous shopping experiences. They will help you in shopping brightly this time.
      __
    4. You can buy a tape measure and do all the required measurements yourself. This is indeed a great tool to get all the things done. Measure all over the undergarments, chest, hips and waist. The tape should not be held too tightly. Hold it firmly and carefully note down the numbers in inches.
      __
    5. Once you have all the data, browse the net with a calm mind. Go through the available designs and see which one is good for you. However it may be possible that different sellers have different sizing standards. Make sure that you see everything in inches as this is what in which you originally measured yourself.
      __
    6. Also remember to select a size that agrees with your widest body part in case you body is not fully proportionate. These plus size special occasion dresses should be easy to take off and on.

I recommend the Selena Plus Size Dress (pictured) for all your needs. It has a sleek and designer criss-cross neckline. The material of this top is quite soft and bottom will fully hug your curves. You can also dress according to your wish, either upwards or downwards.

These plus size dresses are always to be bought with full care to get the best deals.

10 Ways to Accessorize the Plus Size Little Black Dress

By Stacy Montgomery of Sealed with a Kiss Designs

Plus Size Little Black DressThere’s probably one thing that all plus-size women and their wardrobes have in common.  Should I let you guess?  Yep, you’re right, it’s the predominance of black clothing.  It’s funny.  Somewhere along the way, we all seem to have bought into the idea that black is SLIMMING – and into the further idea that we needed to be “slimmed” by our clothing.  An annoying concept for those of us who LIKE our curves.  (And who see the irony in skinny women “enhancing” curves after starving to be slender.)  Why can’t we all just get along???

But I didn’t start this article to write all that.  I started this article to talk about my favorite topic: the plus size little black dress.  There is one thing that we ALL need in our wardrobe, and that’s the perfect little black dress.  Why?  Because that one garment can take you from your daytime doldrums to your night-time fantasies within seconds – and almost as simply as if your fairy godmother showed up with a pair of glass slippers and a pumpkin carriage!

First of all, make sure that you HAVE a few little black dresses on hand, and make sure they’re stylish and in good condition.  Sometimes we wear them so often, that they’ve simply lost their pizzazz. If you need one or two new ones, be BOLD and go for a shorter hem or a lower neckline.  After all, you can always toss on a great long, dramatic silk scarf (tied at the back of your neck) to create a more appropriate look for the office.  When you leave for the day, tie that same scarf sideways around your waste to add an attention-getting extra to your ensemble.

What else can you do to pump up the volume?  Here’s 8 more tips to get the ball rolling.

Stockings.  Remember that a simple little black dress can carry a bigger accessory statement.  Go for fishnet pantyhose!  … or at least consider a few polka dots or a classy seam up the back.

Shoes.  Okay, this is your chance to give yourself a REAL lift.  The great thing about a black basic is that you can add almost ANY signature color to your accessories.  Just make sure that you create a symphony of color – and not chaos.  If your shoes are red, your scarf should feature the same shade too.  You get the picture.

Think about a hat.  Same reason.  A basic black outfit can carry those amazing extras that a print or plaid might not.  Just keep the chapeau to the same level of classiness.

Go for the gusto with ONE big signature piece of jewelry, instead of an ensemble.

Follow 7th Avenue’s latest craze and add a vibrant, colored trench over your little black dress!

Add a zipper!  If you’ve seen anything in the media about fashion recently, you’ve probably noticed that exterior, exposed zippers are jazzing it up all over the place.  Want to make a strong statement with little effort?  Use double-sided tape to put a long faux zipper up the back of your dress – or hey – up the FRONT would be amazing!  (Just remember, it will only get you through the night!)  Remember to actually SEW the zipper in place if you love the look!

Got an old dress that you’re ready to replace?  Add a few inches of lace at the bottom and at the neckline and save it for your next special occasion.  Lace might be too dressy for the office, but it is always a go at weddings and christenings.

Finally, #8 (which is actually #10, if you’ve been keeping count!). It’s all in the bag! Okay, I try NOT to talk about bags in every accessory column – just because it’s so obvious, but for the perfect little black dress, we simply CAN’T overlook the bag.  In this case, you don’t need to spend a TON of money either.  Hit the local thrift store and look for the most amazing little handbag you can find – or the boldest.  Remember, the great thing about the basic plus size black dress is that it can make a BIG statement with just a LITTLE effort.

Stacy Montgomery, VP of sales for Sealed with a Kiss Designs has built her career around her passion, which is embracing her own unique beauty and healthy, plus-sized body. She says: “I have always been full-figured, and I am a great looking size 16. I am healthy, beautiful, and proud to be me!” Sealed with a Kiss Designs covers everything from “the little black dress” to everyday fashions and outerwear.
