5 Awesome Sun Dresses

Guest post by Chelsie Camp

Sundresses are one of the most versatile pieces of clothing that a woman can have in her wardrobe. With just a few dresses, any woman can be prepared for any situation, whether it is a casual day at home, a typical day at the office, or a fun summer wedding. With the right summer sundress, you will solve the dilemma of what to wear and exude effortless style everywhere you go. Use this handy guide to find the best sundresses for every occasion when shopping for women’s clothing online or offline this summer.

The Maxi Dress

Nothing is cooler and more effortless than the maxi dress. This dress came into fashion a few years ago, and it looks like it will be around for many seasons to come. Maxi dresses are the ultimate sun dress for summer days because they require no thought, are easy to accessorize, and easily transition between casual and dressy. For casual events, pair your maxi dress with flat sandals, a stack of colorful bracelets, and a casual tote bag. For dressy events, pair your dress with open-toed high heels, a smart blazer, and a structured bag in a summer color.

Plus Size Summer DressThe Short and Sweet

Short dresses are prefect for casual or dressy events and are easy to find anywhere when shopping for women’s clothes online. Depending on the length of the skirt, short dresses can be worn anywhere from a fun night out to brunch with the grandparents. Choose a short dress with spaghetti straps for the ultimate versatility. Throw a cardigan or jacket on top for cooler nights and conservative events, or leave your shoulders bare for warm temperatures. Try pairing your short dress with flats or casual sandals for day, and dress it up with heels or wedges for night or dressy events. Accessorize your short dress with a bold statement necklace, a belt around the waist, and a summer bag of your choice.

The Strapless

Strapless dresses are prefect for dressy events, but they can also become casual as well. Throw on your strapless dress over a swim suit for the ultimate easy outfit. Wear flip flops or casual sandals to tone down the dressy vibe of the dress. Dress up your strapless dress with a chunky statement necklace, bold bracelets and a killer pair of heels. Pair the dress with a small clutch to add a touch of elegance to your outfit. Bring a lightweight cardigan, scarf, or wrap to keep warm at night and inside cold buildings.

The Wear to Work

Many women do not believe that they can wear sundresses to the office, but this is not the case. With the right accessories, you can wear sundresses of a modest length to work. Choose a sundress that has a conservative pattern and hits just above or just below the knee for the most professional look. Disguise the casual nature of the dress by adding a blazer in a coordinating color or adding a cardigan on top. You can also wear a blouse over the dress to transform your dress into an office-appropriate skirt. Pair your dress with sensible heels and a structured bag and wear simple and elegant jewelry to complete the look.

The Day to Night

Sundresses are highly versatile and easily transition between day and night. For the ultimate day-to-night dress, avoid clingy cuts and shiny fabrics. Tight and shiny dresses are hard to transition from day to night. A fuller dress in a sturdy fabric, however, is the perfect day-to-night dress. The bodice style can be strapless, sleeved, sleeveless, or spaghetti strapped. Avoid extremely low necklines. For day, throw on a jacket or blazer over the dress to disguise the party look. Pair the dress with sensible shoes, such as traditional pumps or casual sandals. Wear minimal jewelry, and carry a structured day bag. At night, wear towering platforms or sky-high heels. Switch out the structured bag for a sparkly clutch and add sparkling jewelry to your neck and ears. Take off the jacket and show off your shoulders, or add a lightweight wrap if the night is cool.

With these five awesome dresses, you’ll be prepared for any event this summer no matter where you go.
